Application of industrial dehumidifier in offset paper printing processing

The main component of offset paper is plant fiber.  The plant fiber is a hydrophilic substance, which has the characteristics of water swelling and water loss shrinkage. Therefore, when the moisture content of the paper is not uniform, the paper will be deformed, such as the common phenomenon of "ruffle" and "tight edge". Another characteristic is that when the paper absorbs moisture and expands, dehumidifies and shrinks, absorbs moisture again, and dehumidifies, repeating several times, the size of the paper will change smaller and smaller until it remains unchanged. This phenomenon is called the hysteresis effect of the paper. At this time, the sensitivity of the paper to moisture is greatly reduced, and the stability of the paper is increased.

1. Problems that are prone to occur in offset paper

1. Static electricity. Paper is prone to static electricity, and operators often feel electric shock and spark static electricity, especially in the dry seasons of Autumn and Winter.

2. Telescopic deformation. The telescopic deformation of the paper is a common phenomenon. When it is serious, it cannot be overprinted by single-color printing. On a four-color machine, one color will be elongated in sequence, or the trailing tip part will be fan-shaped, causing the registration to exceed the standard. Or the front and back sides are inaccurate due to expansion and contraction, or the printed paper has different expansion and contraction, which brings a lot of trouble to the post-processing process.

3. wrinkled. The reason for the wrinkling of paper printing, as far as the paper itself is concerned, is mainly due to the serious "lotus leaf edge" or "tight edge" on the paper, which makes the paper unable to stretch smoothly, wrinkles appear during printing, and a large number of waste products are generated. Or the rainy season is particularly serious.

Second, the method of prepress treatment of offset paper

In order to prevent the occurrence of the above problems, the offset paper needs to be treated as follows before printing.

1. Hang to dry. Hanging and drying is a method widely used by various printing plants at present. By hanging and drying, the paper can adapt to the temperature and humidity of the printing workshop, reduce the sensitivity of the paper to the environment, and make the paper fully absorb the moisture in the air to achieve a uniform and smooth surface. The humidity in the drying room is slightly higher than the humidity in the printing workshop, so that the paper can fully absorb the moisture, so that the hysteresis effect can be fully displayed, and the deformation occurs before printing. Note that the humidity should not be too large. Too much humidity will reduce the stiffness of the paper, make the paper feeding difficult, reduce the surface strength of the paper, and cause the paper to de-powder. Therefore, the relative humidity should be controlled at about 70%.

It is very effective to solve the static electricity problem of the paper by hanging and drying the wet-conditioned paper, and it can also solve the problems such as expansion and contraction of the paper under normal circumstances. It will be better if the paper that has been hung to dry is allowed to wait for a while before using it.
