Can a dehumidifier remove formaldehyde?
Oct 31, 2022
ehumidifiers cannot remove formaldehyde, and the most needed environment for formaldehyde removal is air circulation. Generally, when using a dehumidifier, the window will be closed and the space should be closed as much as possible, which is not conducive to the diffusion of formaldehyde.
Some will use the filter containing activated carbon, it is mainly physical adsorption, the adsorption capacity is limited, and it is easy to cause secondary pollution, it is impossible to remove formaldehyde. Therefore, dehumidifiers cannot remove formaldehyde.
Dehumidifiers remove moisture from the air, and their basic working principle is to condense the moisture onto cold surfaces. When air cools, it loses its ability to remain a gas and condenses into water. A dehumidifier is an air conditioner that puts the heating and cooling coils in the same box. A fan draws room air over the air conditioner's refrigeration coils to condense the moisture (condensate usually drips into a small bucket). The dry air is then passed through a heating coil and heated to its original temperature, a process that does not remove formaldehyde.
